Nestled in the depths of North Yorkshire, this magnificent 17th Century barn required renovation when it became the abode of a couple and their four pets. The impractical, ageing flooring needed replacing in a style sympathetic to the property's history as well as being practical and hardwearing.
The owners chose Lapicida, located in Harrogate, to provide the flooring throughout the property. At first, they thought to use reclaimed English flagstone; however, with lots of pets, Lapicida recommended a porcelain floor as being more practical. The ideal solution was their Empire Heritage collection: Italian stone-effect porcelain designed to replicate the beauty of Barr de Montpellier limestone, complete with an antique textured surface and a hand chipped ‘heritage’ edge.
Empire Heritage Gris Fonce is carried throughout the large kitchen, living, utility and laundry room and in a separate detached barn conversion, creating a sense of continuity and flow throughout the property and perfectly complementing the stylish, pared-back interior.
