Orangeries have come of age, transforming this most traditional of glass buildings into bright, light, intelligent living spaces.
Unlike conservatories, which have fully glazed roofs, orangeries traditionally have a solid roof with an inset glass lantern light. This concept translates elegantly into modern architecture, especially with The Caulfield Company’s design expertise and high-tech glazing systems; using architectural solutions from commercial buildings to create new building technologies for homes.
Shown here: This bespoke contemporary orangery uses two technologically advanced systems, a triple glazed ‘Azkent’ roof and remarkable ‘Cero’ glass doors, which combine the look of glass curtain walling with the functionality of sliding doors. Minimal framing, with vertical mullions just 34mm thick, gives uninterrupted views to the garden beyond. Noise cancelling technology, remote control and locking alarms all add to the functionality and pleasure of living in this space.
Made to order, Cero doors are unique in being available up to a towering 6 metres in height and 4 metres wide, offering moveable floor to ceiling glazing. They can be either double or triple glazed, with the triple glazing option taking the glass up to Passivhaus standards (0.8U value) adding great insulation to new or existing buildings.
Mark Caulfield and his team of architects and craftsmen undertake projects all over the world, handling projects right through from planning permission to the design, build and interior finishes. The Caulfield Company also offers a complete interior design service including bespoke joinery made in its own workshops, integrated entertainment systems, timber and stone floors and contemporary furniture.
